The British Embassy in Mexico City awards 19 Chevening Scholarships for the Academic Year 2009/10

“This experience will change your life”, said Ambassador Giles Paxman to 19 scholars who received a Chevening Scholarship on 25 June 2009.  During the event, senior representatives from sponsoring organisations paid tribute to the quality of postgraduate education in UK Universities, along with Chevening’s contribution to building capacity and fostering development in Mexico.

Four Mexicans received “Sustainable Scholarships” for studies on environmental matters that are co-sponsored by the Mexican Ecology Institute (INE). Shell Mexico granted three awards for the same discipline in partnership with the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge. BP Mexico and Unilever Mexico each sponsored another Chevening Scholarship. The new generation of Chevening scholars will leave for the UK in September to enrol in postgraduate courses in the areas of Sustainable Development, Environment, Migration, Public Policy, Law, Business and Economy.
